We've been inspiring youth through sailing since 1998

Canada’s youth face a host of brutal obstacles.  None more-so than potentially vulnerable kids like newcomers, kids from socioeconomically disadvantaged families, and oppressed minorities.

The marine sector and sailing community has traditionally been inaccessible to youth of low socio-economic status. Broad Reach Canada is committed to fostering greater equity and inclusion within these communities, and positively influencing the personal growth of youth from various backgrounds.

Getting Along

Being a crew-member aboard a sailing ship is the ultimate training to become a collaborative team player

Boats are Cool

Seriously. They've got these huge sails and they go fast when the wind blows. This speaks to kids.

It’s Time To Make A Change.

Broad Reach Canada introduces vulnerable youth to sailing and marine sector activities, which support their intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development. It is our purpose that through our experiential education, youth gain new skills, and learn to think critically, communicate, collaborate and be creative. Broad Reach Canada remains the only registered charity in Canada to offer year-round free impactful and lasting programming. Our activities engage upwards of 3,000 youth ages 12-24/29 in sailing and related activities, both ashore and afloat. These include introductory keel boat sail training, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities, lessons on environmental protection and awareness, introductions to marine sector education, training and employment, and tall ship sail training. The marine sector and sailing community has traditionally been inaccessible to youth of low socio-economic status. Broad Reach Canada is committed to fostering greater equity and inclusion within these communities, and positively influencing the personal growth of youth from various backgrounds.
